Larian Studios’ dedication to deep, meaningful choices and quality turn-based combat clearly hit a sweet spot for fans of well-crafted RPGs, even allowing Divinity: Original Sin 2 to temporarily unseat PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds from the top of the Steam charts in September.
Check out Dan Tack’s review of Divinity: Original Sin 2, in which he calls it “one of the greatest PC RPGs of all time.”
It’s great to see a deep, old school RPG like Divinity: Original Sin 2 do so well. Hopefully the game is profitable for Larian and will let them continue to create some of the best RPGs out there. Although the game features multiplayer, this is another sign that there is space and demand for deep single player experiences.
